- This printing firm, founded in 1833, was considered “in the first rank of Scotch printing-houses, and its imprint will be found on many of the best books issued in Great Britain. Mr. W. B. Blaikie arranges the typographical work of this Press, and it is to his scholarship and taste that much of the beauty of its books is due. The revival of Scotch-free type was largely the work of Messrs. Constable” (Society of Printers p. 48)
