  • "The National Society of Lithographic Artists, Designers and Writers, Copperplate and Wood Engravers was formed in 1885. It was renamed the Amalgamated Society of Lithographic Artists, Designers and Writers, Copperplate and Wood Engravers in 1886, the Amalgamated Society of Lithographic Artists, Designers and Engravers in 1897, the Amalgamated Society of Lithographic Artists, Designers, Engravers and Process Workers in 1902, and the Society of Lithographic Artists, Designers, Engravers and Process Workers (SLADE) in 1922" ("Society")
  • “We have before us the annual report of the Amalgamated Society of Lithographic Artists, Designers, Engravers, and Process Workers, which shows that in spite of bad trade, the society has made progress during the past year, its nineteenth, having admitted 206 new members (or, allowing for deaths, etc., has a net gain of 107), while its funds have been increased by £597, and its total assets now stand at £5,774. The record of work accomplished is certainly a considerable one, and includes particulars of the superannuation, sick, and unemployed benefits which are available to members’ subscription. The society contemplates taking a London office, and meanwhile has appointed an organising secretary for the South” (“The Process Workers” 454)
