Notes

  • Title changed to The World's Paper Trade Review in 1891 (Shattock p. 9)
  • Couper confuses his dates when he describes this journal as beginning in 1879 (correct) but not taking the title The Paper Trade Review until 1883 (incorrect; this is simply when a new series of the journal began): "Curiously a journal, originally started in 1879 in London as the paper trade section of The British and Colonial Printer and Stationer, took in 1883 as its name The Paper Trade Review on separate publication. 'World's' was subsequently added. It had no connection with MacNiven & Cameron's venture" (Couper vol. 5, Feb. 1904, p. 118)
  • The discrepancies in start and end date are likely owing to title changes and series changes. The Paper Trade Review began in 1879, but a new series enumerated as vol. 1, no. 1 began on 17 Aug. 1883. This series ran for 15 vols. (through 1 May 1891). At this time, the editors added "World's" to the title and began another new series as The World's Paper Trade Review. This series continued until the journal was incorporated into the journal Paper in 1972 (COPAC; Shattock p. 9)
  • In 1891, this is published at the same office as The British & Colonial Printer & Stationer (Willing's 1891, p. 289)
  • Publisher's address (Stonhill & Gillis): 26-30 Imperial Buildings, Ludgate Circus (journal itself, 1883); or 24 Bouverie St., Fleet St. (journal itself, 1887 and Caspar's 1889); or 58 Shoe Lane, Holborn Viaduct (journal itself, 1893, and BLT19 Database)
