- "Founded in 1880, following a plea for the amalgamation of various lithographic and printing societies. This had come from the two largest organizations in Bradford and Manchester. An organization for lithographic printers, known as the Central Association of Lithographic and Copper-Plate Printers, had existed as early as 1860" (DNCJ, Lawrence 14)
- Not to be confused with The Amalgamated Society of Lithographic Artists (Catalogue?)
- Began issuing half-yearly reports (as well as quarterly) in 1888 (COPAC)
